INT - EUROCUP France (Lac du Der)

April 27, 2019, noon

Hi 500s,

Lac du Der welcomes us as always with its beautiful nautical base, top-level organization and friendship.

The RS 500 Class responds with its presence: it’s the most represented class at the event with 14 boats, coming from four nations (Nederland, Italy, Great Britain and France).

These numbers bode well for the future of the Eurocup Series: even the 6 junior teams (Under 22) are a great sign! Some nations (Nederland, Italy and Czech Republic first of all) are considering RS 500 as a natural/possible passage from RS Feva world. The registered youngest team? NED 629, alias the Van Mourik brothers (2004 and 2002): You’re welcome in the European circuit!

But RS 500 is a boat for life: so veterans are also essential, because their great passion is admirable and contagious too…

Three days of competition, 50 boats on the lake (with a lot of RS), with different meteo conditions: more wind during the first three races, only a faint breath during the last two races.

In the RS 500 Class big fight at the top of ranking since race 1: at the end only one point divided the two first teams: ITA 1617 (Marchesi/Del Rosso) beats NED 777 (Nijdam/Usman), an all girl crew.

Also the battle for the third place is fierce: at the end the 2 dutch teams (NED 526 Deurloo/Deurloo and NED 972 Overbeeke/De Zeew) beat the 2 italian ones (ITA 1642 Rossi C./Andreani and ITA 892 Rossi G./Frazzica).

Now Leg 2, Colico 24-26 May: everybody is invited to Como Lake to experience three days of sun/wind/sailing…and Italian food! Please, check EUROCUP Italy (Colico) for more information and registration.

In attachment you will find the final results of the France Open Skiff regatta and the ranking of the EUROCUP Series (after the first stage).

Hope to see you all in Colico!
