EUROCUP 2019 ENDS HERE!

By Mario Rossi, September 15th, 2019

After a battle during the whole season the winner of the beautiful RS 500 Eurocup Series – 2019 edition was finally decided at the last race of the last day of the last event!

As the ABBA sang: “The winner takes it all”, so we could say “The British take it all…”: in a couple of days Peter & James Curtis won the prestigious EuroCup ’19 Trophy after the powerfulvictory at Lipno Worlds, while Mike Saul & Oliver Kent became the new Open Dutch Championship winners!

The Italians Jacopo and Federico Roncuzzi, came to Holland on equal score with the two Curtis, fought fiercely but at the end they achieved the silver medal (the same as the Worlds); however they won another Junior title.

After the first three legs Tommy Marchesi and Isaia Del Rosso were in first place of the provisional classification, but already with three valid results: so they had to discard the worst result and finally their score was not enough to defend the leadership. So they ranked thirds.

The winners of the final stage are therefore the excellent Mike Saul and "Ollie" Kent: seven races, all of them always leaded in the top 3, any change of pace with a breath of wind (first day) or withchampagne sailing conditions (second day): really a well-deserved result. For them a final 4th place in Eurocup too!

Thanks to all the crews that raced in the Series, especially to those who traveled for kilometers coming from distant nations: racing with an international fleet is always exciting. See you at the 2020 series, race calendar soon!!!
